The next-gen Volkswagen Golf has come off age with digitization and electrification but it retains the Golf DNA visually, also having grown in size than the previous one.
The Golf has been Volkswagen’s best selling car and it is hugely popular in the international market. The Golf is available in various iteration from being a family hatchback to a full blown hot-hatch. It has sold more than 35 million units worldwide and now Volkswagen is readying the next-gen Golf.
It will soon roll out in a couple of months time but ahead of its official unveil, Volkswagen has officially teased the 8th-gen Golf while undergoing final rounds of testing in a production-ready form but wrapped in camouflage. The Golf has now come off age and it will now see digitization and electrification to keep up with modern trends.
Yes, the next-gen Golf is expected to come with some sort of electrical powertrain, connected car technology and assisted driving systems as well. Visually, the new Golf has retained its DNA and what we can clearly see is that it is a five-door car. The car comes completely wrapped in camouflage and if you look closely, you will see the ‘Golf’ name written in the camouflage itself. Klaus Bischoff, head of Volkswagen Design, says the new Golf will โbe a genuine eye-catcherโ.

The design details cannot be seen under the heavy camouflage but expect a fresh new design. The hatchback has also grown in size. Bischoff also said “At this time, we will not disclose all details of the new Golf, but you can already perceive its elegant proportions.”ย Volkswagen will also debuting their new logo with this new-gen Golf.

The interiors of the new Volkswagen Golf will also have changed completely. It will feature a new digital instrument cluster which will also incorporate the Virtual Cockpit features. A large floating infotainment screen will dominate the dashboard with tons of new features. The next-gen Golf is expected to be powered by a range of turbocharged petrol engine and it will also have hybrid powertrains. The next-gen Golf is expected to break cover in October with other body styles like the station wagon, GTI and R trims following later.
