Suzuki has officially unveiled the GSX250R in China. Its India debut could happen in mid-2017. The GSX 250R aka Suzuki Gixxer 250 cc will rival bikes like the KTM Duke 200, RC200 and Honda CBR250R. It will command a significant premium over the Suzuki Gixxer SF 155. The Gixxer 250 will become a logical upgrade for current Gixxer 150 and Gixxer SF owners. We have managed to get our hands on the specifications and images of the upcoming Suzuki sportsbike. Earlier, leaked images had revealed much about the Suzuki GSX 250R bike and now we have more.

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 could slot in perfectly between the KTM twins and models like the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Benelli TNT 300 and Yamaha YZF-R3. Also, the 250cc bike will be sold as the GSX250R and not Gixxer 250.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 India Launch Date

The upcoming Suzuki 250cc bike made its public debut in October 2016. Its India launch date could fall in late 2017. There’s no official data yet, but a November 2017 launch will be a safe guess. The upcoming Suzuki Gixxer model should also be present at EICMA 2016 in Milan. Images of the GSX205R seen here are of the production-ready model. However, Suzuki is yet to confirm the product’s India launch. While International markets could get the Suzuki GSX 250R early next year, India might have to wait a year or so for the bike.
The upcoming bike will ditch the ‘Gixxer’ branding in favour of the more premium ‘GSX’ branding. The reason behind this could be the fact that the Gixxer is seen as a premium commuter bike. Even the model that was caught without camouflage recently sports ‘GSX’ branding.

The GSX250R (Gixxer 250 cc) could share in plenty with the Gixxer 150. Hence, expect a competitive price tag. The Gixxer 250 cc model is expected to compete with the Duke and RC 200. Hence, it is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 1.50 lakhs – Rs. 1.80 lakhs (ex-showroom). At this price point, the GSX250R will cost almost the same as the aging Honda CBR250R. Also, it will have a great cost advantage over the likes of Suzuki Z250.

Powering the Suzuki Gixxer 250 (GSX R250) is a 248 cc twin-cylinder engine that comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Max Power stands at 25 PS. ABS is available as an optional extra. It gets disc brakes at both wheels along with a mono suspension. The front-disc is a petal-shaped unit. This is the same engine that powers the Suzuki Inazuma 250.
