Tata Harrier price in India will be announced on the 23rd of January 2019 when the homegrown automaker launches this all-new urban soft-roader in India. Based on the H5X concept showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Tata Harrier is based on the Land Rover derived D8 platform. Called by Tata Motors as the OMEGA architecture, this platform will spawn more vehicles for the automaker in the near future.
The Tata Harrier price was revealed through Tata Motor’s official twitter account sometime back. In a reply to a tweet by a prospective customer the automaker wrote that the on-road prices of this SUV are likely to fall in-between the range of INR 16 lakh to 21 lakh. On the basis of this, we can speculate that ex-showroom prices of this SUV could fall in-between the range of INR 14 lakh to 19 lakh.
The Tata Harrier, in addition to using a platform borrowed from Land Rover, uses an engine which is taken from Fiat. The engine in question is a 2.0-litre diesel unit current found of Harrier arch-rival to be, the Jeep Compass. For the Harrier though, the power output has been reduced to 140 BHP. While the torque figures remain the same at 350 NM. Also in comparison to the Compass, the Harrier will miss out on a four-wheel drive system and an automatic gearbox in its portfolio.

For now, Tata Motors has provided the Harrier with just a 6-speed manual gearbox. The automatic unit is going to arrive soon and is going to be a 7-speed unit sourced from Hyundai. Not only this, but the homegrown automaker has officially confirmed that there is going to be a 7-seater iteration of the Harrier in the pipeline as well. However, the said vehicle will have it own unique identity.
All that said, one parameter where this SUV takes precedence over the competition is its looks. Though subjective, the aesthetics of the Harrier are sure to polarize opinion. The exteriors are almost similar to the design seen on the Harrier’s concept iteration, the H5X on display at the Auto Expo. Another area where this SUV has surprised us is its interior quality, fit and finish. It cabin is for sure a first for Tata Motors and has set the bar high for the competition.
