As far as getting inspiration from movies goes, this has to be one of the most motivational stories in the realm of Indian entrepreneurship.

This Tata Motors engineer quit his job and set up a Rs 20 Crore company. You must’ve heard a lot of inspirational stories of people achieving great things and this is bound to fit into that category. Anshuman Agrawal was an engineer with Tata Motors back in 2007. He was a part of the design team in the Joint Venture between Tata Motors and Daewoo to develop trucks. The commercial department of Tata Motors is much better established than its passenger car department. So, the prospects for Anshuman were quite massive with the company wanting to send him to South Korea to overlook the development phase there.

Tata Motors Engineer Quit His Job To Setup A Rs 20 Crore Company

Back then, he went to see the movie ‘Guru’ starring Abhishek Bachchan. That film fuelled his fire to pursue his entrepreneurial journey. He quit his job the next day and decided to pump all his savings into a trading business. He continued that business for well over a year before deciding to establish a manufacturing unit to purify oils in 2012. The name of the company is Minimac Systems Pvt. Ltd and is a leading oil purifier for clients from various spaces including steel, power, cement, paper, automotive, plastics, etc. The company did a business of Rs 20 Crore in post-pandemic which is its highest sales ever.

The manufacturing unit is present in Pune and has three locations in the city. The company has 66 workers at the moment and is expanding rapidly. Anshuman grew up in Ranchi, Jharkhand and complete his schooling from there. For his BTech, he attended the prestigious IIT Dhanbad which was formerly known as the Indian School of Mines. His wife, Prerna Agrawal is heading the HR department at the firm having completed her MBA from Tata Institue of Social Sciences.
