The Tata Punch proves that it really carries a punch as the car reaches true top speed of 160 kmph in a new test on the highway.
The Tata Punch is essentially a sub-compact SUV at just 3.8mm. It is directly competing with the likes of Mahindra KUV100 NxT, Maruti Ignis, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. The five-seater vehicle comes with multiple variants and four trims – four trims: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. In terms of power, Tata has added a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that offers 86PS and 113Nm of Torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard or an optional 5-speed AMT. Now, a new video has emerged that shows the car clocking at a true top speed of 160 kmph. Let’s take a look.
As you can see in the video above, the Tata Punch goes from 0 to 120 kmph in a jiffy. In the first-gear, the car goes up to 45kmph. While in the second gear it reaches 85kmph, the third gear allows you to reach 129kmph. However, the fourth gear goes up to 160kmph. The fifth gear does not allow you to reach the top speed. The vehicle speed stays quite stable overall during the fourth and fifth gear. In the second part of the video, the Tata Punch goes from 0 to 60kmph in just 6.73 seconds and 0 to 100 kmph in 16 seconds. Overall, the Tata Punch offers a great performance for its price point.
The Tata Punch comes in 7 different color options – Atomic Orange, Tropical Mist, Meteor Bronze, Tornado Blue, Calypso Red, Orcus White, and Daytona Grey. While the base model (Pure) starts at Rs 5.48 Lakh, the top variant (Tata Punch Creative AMT) comes with a price tag of Rs 9.08 Lakh (introductory, ex-showroom Delhi). For safety, the company has added dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear parking camera. The micro SUV has a ground clearance of 187mm. Additional highlights include a 7-inch touchscreen system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, auto AC, and cruise control.
