Tata Motors, in partnership with Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives, has showcased the Tata Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018. The new models are basically performance-tuned variants of the Tiago hatchback and the Tigor compact sedan. The ‘JTP’ in the suffix is an acronym for ‘Jayem Tata Performance’. Both the models carry a host of performance updates along with a set of visual enhancements to set the duo apart from the regular versions. Visual updates include new bumpers with larger airdams, smoked headlamps, and gloss black treatment for the grille.

Further highlights of the Tata Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP include vents on the hood, vents on the fenders, side skirts, gloss back paint on the rear diffusers, contrast roof paint, red-colored ORVM caps, and JTP badge on the front grille. Coming to the specifications, both the JTP models get the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Nexon. This engine outputs a maximum power of 110 PS along with a peak torque of 150 Nm. The six-speed manual transmission gets updated gear ratios to enable faster acceleration.
Surprisingly, the brakes have been left untouched. However, the suspension system gets some revisions to aid the handling characteristics. The ride height has been lowered, too. Interiors of the Tata Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP get an all-black colour theme, aluminum sports pedals, and leather seat upholstery. Both the cars also get touchscreen infotainment systems with 8-speaker Harman audio units. The JTP duo is expected to launch later this year.
