Recently Toyota Glanza was spotted in Goa for a TVC shoot and a few days later, a teaser was released which revealed flesh look of the upcoming premium hatchback. Now the official date for the launch have been out that is June 6, 2019.
Toyota has said although it is a rebadged Baleno, Glanza will offer a better experience and will be focused towards the youth. They said, “Globally Toyota & Suzuki are tied up, with this alliance Toyota would like to provide more options to customers. The Toyota Glanza does share the same platform as a Suzuki Baleno”.
Furthermore, “its advanced and emotional design, seamless performance, uncompromised safety features, superior comfort and convenience delivers a driving experience unlike any other. And best of all, this seamless combination of performance and style also comes with Toyota’s legendary sales and service experience”.
Toyota Glanza and Baleno literally share the same platform and both are built at Maruti’s Gujrat plant. Both the cars look identical except for the badging and front grille on Toyota which is now a lot shinier than the one in Baleno.
The only aspect in which Glanza differ from the Baleno is the warranty and the variants which the car has to offer on board. Toyota will offer 3-year warranty or 1 lakh km, whichever is at earliest while Maruti Baleno offers only 2-year warranty or limited to 40,000km.
Toyota is also expected to offer an additional warranty pack, 5-year true warranty package and a 7-year Toyota timeless warranty package. Of course, both the packages will be on chargeable basis. The Glanza will be offered in only 2 variants, ‘G’ and ‘V’.
Toyota Glanza will only come in petrol engine and is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated motor which generates 84bhp with 11Nm of peak torque. The engine will be a BS-VI compliance which will suffice the emission norms come April, 2020.
Once launched, Toyota Glanza is expected to be priced around Rs 7.07 lakh for base variant to Rs 7.70 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top trim. It will compete with Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno and Volkswagen Polo.
