The upcoming budget bike by United Motors is expected to be priced around INR 1.2 lakh.
UM, short for United Motors, started its sales in the nation during the 2016 Auto Expo. The company initially launched the Renegade Sport and the Renegade Commando which shared essentially everything except for certain visual elements to set them apart. The US-based company started directly with the local production of their offerings, making India a production base for the entire ASEAN region. The initial response to the Renegade series was impressive with the initial batch being booked online. Since then, the sales have been lukewarm and the company suspects that it might have to do with the pricing. 2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 – Launch Price
The upcoming 2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 is slated to be launched at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Duty 230 is expected to launched at INR 1.2 lakh ex-showroom. At this price point, it will directly compete with the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and indirectly with several players in the segment like Bajaj Dominar 400, KTM Duke 200, Suzuki Intruder 150 etc.

2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 – Specifications
When parked side by side, the upcoming 2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 feels tiny amongst the current lineup. The size itself clearly indicates the cost-saving done by more efficient components and parts all over the bike. The headlight unit is also a basic round one with no difference to that of the present competition. The peanut-shaped tank looks good and the seat looks wide, supportive and comfortable for long rides.
2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 – Dimensions
The upcoming 2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 is more of a city-friendly product. The seating position for the rider will be upright with relaxed arms and legs. The split seats compliment the upright position. The Duty 230 stretches 1,975mm long, 730mm wide and 1,050mm in height. The seat height is impressively low at 756mm. The Duty 230 features alloy wheels on each end. The bike features a single pod instrument cluster which is likely to have a digital screen to indicate fuel level.
2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 – Cycle Parts
The 2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 is a budget bike, hence features basic components only. The front end features a telescopic fork and the rear comes with twin shock absorbers. The disc brake at the front looks quite compact than compared to the competition with similar engine capacity. The customers can expect the tyres to be filled with the brand’s proprietary Anti-Flat Sealant (AFS) to sweeten the deal further. The sealant holds multiple properties by avoiding punctures and also balancing the wheel eliminating the requirement for wheel balancers.
2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 – Drivetrain
The upcoming 2018 UM Renegade Duty 230 features a 230cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. The engine produces around 18 bhp of power and 17.7 Nm of torque.The engine will come mated to a 5-speed gearbox for cut-throat pricing. The bike will be manufactured locally in the company’s Uttrakhand plant and will be sold via all UM dealerships across the nation.
