Upcoming Cars in India Under 4 lakhs

Tata Kite 5 (Tiago Compact Sedan)

Another eagerly awaited vehicle in the list of Upcoming Cars in India Under 4 lakhs is the Tiago based compact sedan. The newly launched Known only by its ‘Kite 5‘ codename, the compact sedan will be nearly identical to the concept that was on display at the Auto Expo. It will be positioned below the Zest and will, in all probability, become the cheapest compact sedan on sale in India. Expect Tata to launch the car during the first quarter of 2017 at a starting price of just under 4 lakhs.

New Chevrolet Beat

It is not secret that General Motors and Chevrolet have been struggling in India for some time now. However, the brand has now charted out a strategy in order to get back into the game. Spearheading its resurgence will be the new Beat that will arrive in showrooms by the end of this year or early next year. Based on the current model, the new Beat will be a thoroughly revised package and will be available in hatchback, crossover, and compact sedan forms. Expect prices to start a shade under 4 lakhs.

Chevrolet Essentia

Accompanying the new Beat will be a compact sedan derivative called Essentia. It will resemble the concept that was on display at the Auto Expo almost entirely. Engine and transmission options will be the same as the new Beat. We expect prices to be lower than the current crop of compact sedans on sale in India.

Tata Nano Pelican

Tata has not given up on the Nano platform despite poor sales of the current model. They are now working on a new version that will feature a slightly different exterior and a bigger petrol engine. Know internally as the Pelican, Tata could bring the car out by the end of 2017. It will feature bigger tyres and is likely to boast a longer list of features.

Datsun Redi-GO

Datsun has turned up the heat in the small car space with the launch of the redi-GO. Priced at just 2.39 lacs, the redi-GO is cheaper than the Maruti Alto 800 and the Renault Kwid, with which its shares its platform, engine and floor space at Renault-Nissan’s manufacturing facility. The redi-GO offers striking looks and class leading ground clearance and fuel efficiency, which make it a worthy alternative to the Kwid and Alto 800.

Tata Tiago

Launched in the first half of 2016, the Tata Tiago has been received very well by the Indian public and for good reason. It offers, good looks, a long list of features and a frugal set of engines all rolled into one very well priced package. Soon, the Tiago will be joined by the aforementioned Kite 5 compact sedan, which should help Tata Motors regain the lost momentum.
