Maruti Swift

Here is a video in which the new Maruti Swift goes off-roading and races with dirt bikes and quad bikes. Check out the video now!

Maruti Swift might be the ideal and most affordable sporty hatchback in India. Its shape and its styling is inspired by its hot-hatch version in the European countries. Here is a video where you can see the capabilities of the Swift as an off-roading machine battling out with DIRT BIKES AND QUAD BIKES!

So this is the third and latest generation of the Swift that we have. For protection against off-roading, it gets rally-spec tyres at the front which get dual-purpose treading. Since the off-roading is done on sand, running on normal tyres would not make it work. The reason for putting them only on the front is because it is a FWD car and you need most traction on the front.

Then there are some metal plates installed to prevent the gearbox and other components from scraping. With just these two tweaks, the Maruti Swift is off for some off-road racing. It goes up against two dirt bikes and a quad bike, both solely built for the purpose of off-roading. See how the action unfolds.

In just some minutes, the bumper towards the left fog lamp comes off. The people make some adjustments and tie it together to complete the race. Towards the end, we can see that Swift gradually overtakes all of them and is inching closer towards victory. The winner of the race cannot be seen in the video.

The Swift in the video is the same one that we have in India. It runs on a 1.2 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 83 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque. The 1.3 Litre MJD engine was discontinued last year itself due to BS6 norms. Now, the petrol-only Swift comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT.

Safety features onboard Swift include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming IRVMs and rear parking camera. The hatch is priced from Rs 5.19 Lakhs to Rs 8.02 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Want to check out how this video was made? Watch it below!
