The Korean auto giant is known for offering some of the most feature-loaded products in each category
The Kia Carens Clavis has been an exciting product in our market, which was launched a few weeks ago. It is, in essence, a premium iteration of the regular Carens. In fact, it bears tons of upgrades over the standard Carens in terms of exterior styling and in-cabin amenities. Therefore, potential buyers get a chance to go for a more premium product. While everyone has been talking about the functionalities on offer, there is one feature which is missing. Let us discuss that in depth here.
Why Does The Kia Carens Clavis Not Get Rear Seat Ventilation?
Seat ventilation has become an extremely crucial convenience feature in cars in the last few years. Some years ago, it was restricted to only the premium cars. But now Kia also offers rear seat ventilation in its compact SUV, the Syros. In a hot country like India, it is a great power to have to beat the summer heat. However, for some reason, the Korean car marque has given it a miss on the Carens Clavis, which is a much more premium car than the Syros. There is a specific reason for that.
You see, the Carens Clavis is a 3-row SUV. Hence, the second row seats need to fold to make room to enter the third row. As a consequence, it was quite difficult to install the mechanism which allows seat ventilation. The one-touch tumble function folds the entire seat to allow entry to the third row. Therefore, Kia could not offer the ventilation function in the second row of the Carens Clavis. Nevertheless, there are tons of other prominent features to pamper the customers. The main highlights include:
- 26.62-inch Dual Panoramic Display Panel (Infotainment and Driver’s Instrument Cluster)
- 4-way Powered Driver’s Seat
- Infotainment / Temperature Swap Switch
- Level 2 ADAS with 20 Autonomous Features
- 17-inch Crystal Cut Alloy Wheels
- Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof
- 8-speaker Bose Premium Sound System
- 64-colour Ambient Lighting
- 360-degree Camera
- 3-row Seating
- Sliding and Reclining Function for Second Row
- Front Ventilated Seats
- Smart Key-enabled All Windows Up/Down Function
- 18 Advanced Safety Features
Specs
You don’t need to worry about the lack of powertrain options while buying the Kia Carens Clavis. There are three options to choose from – a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine which generates a familiar 115 PS and 144 Nm, a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol mill which churns out an impressive 160 PS and 253 Nm or a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine which produces a healthy 116 PS and 250 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Furthermore, you can pair these mills with a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT and a torque converter automatic gearbox. This shows that the needs of all sorts of buyers can be met. The prices range from Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 21.50 lakh, ex-showroom.
