Hero HX250R 250cc Motorcycle Launch Soon [All The Details]

Hero Motocorp (the erstwhile Hero Honda ) has always been known for producing bikes that are segment leaders or for making new segments in the two-wheeler segment. The Hero Splendor is the world’s largest selling motorcycle, the CBZ started a cult for affordable sportbiking of its own and our beloved Karizma does not need any introduction. But there’s one segment it had been missing on till now and that is the quarter litre segment. Even though the company is late to join the party, it has come up with something that is surely worth the wait. Hero Motocorp has just launched the Hero HX 250R bike which looks drop dead gorgeous to say the least and has mechanicals that would blow away the competition. It is expected to be launched in a few months of time, probably in early Q2 2015. Hero is said to be conducting extensive road tests on this motorcycle before launch.

What’s New?

In one word- Everything! The Hero HX 250R has a 249cc motor at its heart which is a single-cylinder four-stroke unit. The highlight is the fact that this motor produces a maximum power output of 31 BHP and a peak torque of 26 NM which is way more than any other quarte- litre bike on sale in the country, including the famed KTM 200 Duke. It is a fuel injected engine and gets mated to a 6-speed manual transmission which is a first for Hero MotoCorp. The 4-valve engine makes use of liquid cooling and the bike gets an underbelly exhaust like the KTM 200/390 Duke and the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS.

You get a 300 mm disc up front while the rear unit is a 200 mm one. The bike comes shod with Honda’s much famed Combi brake system  which teams up with an optional ABS which is also a first for Hero Motocorp. The bike gets Pirelli Sport Demon tyres and the  front tyre is a 110/80/17 unit and the rear unit is a  140/70/17 one. The bike will do the 0-60 KMPH dash in about 2.7 seconds and the 0-100 KMPH sprint will come under 8 seconds before it maxes out at around 160 kmph.

It has a decent ground clearance of about 145mm and weighs merely 139 kgs and this will be one of the main factors boosting its performance. The futuristic styling, full fairing and twin headlamps make the bike look class apart to say the least. So if you were in the market for a sub Rs 1.5 lakh 200-250cc bike, I suggest you wait till the Hero HX250R hits the Indian roads and then make your choice, because from the looks of it the bike has a lot of potential.

The bike will hit Indian roads by September 2014 with a price of around Rs 1.5 Lakhs which would put it right in the territory of the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar SS 200.

  1. Why cant Hero motors introduce a stripped down naked commuter bike with flat seat to cater to commuter segment instead of the herd race track bike which is not practicable for city rides .Perhaps Hero motors is underestimating the potential of such a segment .I am sure it will have garner more market share than the existing competitors since all have race track derivatives with fibre loaded stuff abhorred by biking afficianados. The Royal Enfield sales graph is evidence of this.

  2. Why would you want a stripped down commuter bike with a 250cc engine? Hero does have (and is the process of introducing new) commuter bikes in it’s portfolio, and does pretty well in the segment too.

  3. I wonder what will the bike look like if hero introduced in 2.5lakh range.. it would be mass!!! 🙂 🙂
plzz hero leave one flagship bike of 300 or 500cc

  4. i really don’t understand why Hero Motocorp ignoring Hero Hunk so much…Every bike in their portfolio has some thing or the other upgrades,
It really pains when i don’t find anything done to hunk every time they come up with an idea…I am a PROUD owner of Hero Hunk but every time hero takes me a back when they do nothing for Hunk…I AM DISAPPOINTED HERO MOTO CORP…

  5. i would like to have hxr 250 …coz i have karizma r now i want to change my byk this year ….when it launch in delhi..

  6. I like this bike performance wise and it is looking awesome from the rear part…but the front part is not looking nice ie;head lamp…over all it is good

  7. Hy Hero MotoCorp i want to contact with u …. plz show me a way to contact with u gays… and i am from bangladesh

  8. i m a bike rider…and want to persue it as my carrier and do it life long…help to show me out the way and join you guys..

  9. This is a comment for all vehicles two and four whelers.During night time while we crossing a two/four wheeler we cant able to see the road behind opposit vehicle.this leads to an accident if we are not yet below 20kmph.This is a problem pariticularly for bike when crossing four wheeler. To over coDSK Benelli TNT 600 GTme this why dont you provide right side lights and back side lights like as front head lightes for four wheelers and two wheelers .If the driver put on right side lights and back side light when crossing the road will be visible for both drivers clearly so there will be no chance for accidents.

  10. Why manufactures like HereoMotorcorp does not understand fully faired bikes are not practical for daily commuting, and domestic errands, shopping etc. Ninety percent buyers fall in this category. Some college students or race-track addicts like fully faired ones. Their numbers are very limited and rest of India wants naked street fighters.

Look at The Royal Enfield. Their naked bikes are much in demand now and the waiting period for Classic-350 is around six months now. This is a clear indication Indians love naked street bikes and there is good demand for 300 to 400 cc naked bikes.

  11. Why hero moto corp is not interesting in making hunk more attractive by providing 2 piece handle as in xtreme nd karizma red zmr.and when u launched xtreme u write it on petrol tank with metal letters once again it is not present in xtreme sports.u must pay attention to the looks of bike.one more thing I want to say that a bike in 150 cc segment must be launched for the riders of short height as apache 100.

  13. realy awesome by look……..i want to know its mileage and price & about its release in india……..pls tell
