In November this year, Maruti Suzuki will introduce the second generation iteration of the Ertiga MPV in India. The debut, which was scheduled for the end of October this has been postponed almost a month as Maruti plans to clear the backlog of its existing models first.

To bring you all the details regarding the new iteration of this budget MPV, here are five important facts that you need to know about it.
First- Design
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga, as you must be aware, is going to come with an all-new exterior design. Using the new lightweight HEARTECT platform has allowed Maruti to increase the dimensions of this MPV all-around. Hence, the new Ertiga now looks quite bigger and more spacious than before.

The elongated headlamps up-front, along with the large grille and sporty bumper design, give a premium air to this vehicle. The strong shoulder crease and the sharp design elements on the rear fascia add a bit of flair and a touch of contemporary design to this MPV
Second- Interiors
Just like the exteriors, in the interiors of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga is going to get an all-new design. The design is new in comparison to the current spec model, however, the same one that we saw on the current generation Maruti Dzire compact sedan.

The colour scheme is primarily beige, which gives the cabin an airy feel. The material quality of the plastics and trim is expected to remain the same. The increase in overall dimensions has definitelyย increased the overall space on offer.
Third- Features And Safety
Going by the prices, the 2018 Maruti Ertiga will fall in the same price bracket as the current generation of sub-Compact SUVs. Buyers opting for an Ertiga would for sure want it to come loaded with comparable features and creature comforts. Hence, the 2018 Ertiga comes loaded with quite a decent equipment list. Not only this, but this budget MPV will also offer several safety features as standard.

The top-end variants of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga will feature equipment like a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, day and night IRVM, multi-functional steering wheel, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED tail-lamps among the others. On the safety front, this MPV is going to come with dual-airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts along with rear parking sensors as standard across the range.
Fourth- Engine Specifications
the 2018 Maruti Ertiga is going to come with an all-new 1.5-litre K15B, four-cylinder petrol engine. This new engine is capable of churning out 105 BHP of power along with 130 Nm of peak torque. It will replace the existing 1.4-litre unit from Ertiga’s line-up. As standard, it is going to come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the top-spec trims will be available with a 4-speed torque converter unit as well.

Most likely, Maruti will introduce Suzuki’s mild-hybrid technology in the Ertiga’s petrol derivative as well, by default. This will massively increase the MPV’s fuel efficiency figures. The diesel derivative will remain the same as before, a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine.
Fifth- Prices
With the addition of a new platform and significant feature upgrades, expect the prices of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga to go up slightly. Currently, the Ertiga retails in-between the price point of INR 6.34 lakhs to INR 10.69 lakhs. With the next-generation iteration, prices go increase by about INR 20,000 to INR 25,000 depending upon the variant.
