Hyundai Tucson is currently the most expensive Hyundai car in India. Despite having the latest features, huge cabin space, and powerful engines, it has not garnered enough sales. In order to revive the Tucson brand, Hyundai will reportedly give a facelift to Tucson by May 2019. The 2019 Hyundai Tucson will get a lot of driver assist features along with revisions to the exteriors of the SUV. The Tucson goes against the Jeep Compass, however, is pricier than Compass by nearly Rs 1 Lakhs.
Changes in the appearance would include the Cascading front grille, updated headlamps, revised front, and rear bumpers and revised fog lamp housing. It now gets LED headlamps on the top-end variants.
Feature additions on the 2019 Hyundai Tucson include autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a 360-degree camera, and adaptive cruise control. Inside the cabin, it gets a revised 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other features onboard the current Tucson include dual barrel LED headlamps, Front and Rear fog lamps, LED DRLs and Electric ORVMs on the exterior. Other features include Hands-Free Tail Gate, Electric parking brake, Drive mode select, Auto Headlamps, Cruise Control, 10-way adjustable driver seat and more.
Safety features include ABS with EBD, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Brake Control (DBC), Brake Assist, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, and a rearview camera. The Tucson comes with a total of 6 airbags.
The 2019 Hyundai Tucson will continue with the same 2.0 Litre petrol and 2.0 Litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 153 HP and 190 Nm of torque. The diesel engine produces 183 HP and 398 Nm of torque. For transmission, the engine pairs up with a 6-speed manual gearbox along with an optional 6-speed automatic.
The facelift might demand a marginal hike over the current prices. Current prices start at Rs 18.63 Lakhs and go up to Rs 25.07 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices Delhi).
After the facelift, Hyundai is reportedly going to launch the next-gen Tucson in 2021. Reports suggest that the next-gen Tucson might come with a 7-seater configuration and more new features.
