As you can see, the base-spec S variant will only come with a petrol engine and manual gearbox. The S+ variant will get the diesel-manual configuration. On the SX and SX (O) variant, you have the petrol and diesel engines with the CVT and 6-speed AT options as well. The turbo petrol engine will only come on the top-spec SX(O) variant.
The 1.5 Litre petrol engine produces 115 PS and 144 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5 Litre diesel engine produces 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol engine produces 120 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque, making it the most powerful sedan in its class.
The new Verna gets minor cosmetic upgrades like refreshed bumpers, new headlamp design, larger cascading grille and new alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, there’s a new theme for the dashboard along with a bigger touchscreen infotainment system.
New Verna will come with features such as Electric Sunroof, Cruise Control, LED Projector Headlamps, Dual Tone Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels, Larger Touchscreen Infotainment System, Android Auto And Apple CarPlay, Voice Recognition And Blue Link Technology, Wireless Charger, Digital Instrument Console and Electric Adjustment For Driver Seat.
Safety features will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and vehicle stability control (VSC). The base variants are expected to get six airbags as standard.
Hyundai is likely to keep the prices of new Verna identical to the BS4 version. The outgoing one starts off at Rs 8.17 Lakhs up to Rs 14.07 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The competition is about to get more fierce with Honda launching the new generation City and with Vento and Rapid getting more powerful 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol engines.
