The upcoming Renault Kwid takes its design inspiration from K-ZE and will get new exteriors, interiors and the engine will be upgraded to BS6 emission norms.
French carmaker, Renault recently launched the Duster facelift and the company is gearing up for the 2020 Kwid launch this year. The Kwid brings the most of the company’s sales since 2015 when it was first launched.
Now with the rising competition and popularity of the entry-level hatchback segment, Renault is likely to launch the 2020 Kwid. The new spy shot was spotted by Rushlane and the taillights featured here gets LED treatment with C shape. Moreover, the front fascia sports a split headlight design and gets halogen bulbs.
The 2020 Renaut Kwid borrows its design inspiration from the K-ZE and it gets totally revamped exteriors and interiors will also see some changes. A BS6 compliant engine is expected to come on board once the car is launched.
The spy shot was heavily camouflaged but revealed some details about the exteriors. The hatchback gets three-slated grille which makes it look modern along with new bumpers. It might also get body-coloured ORVMs which will be now electrically adjustable for the top-end trim. The fog light cluster is also changed and it gets larger air dams.
The interiors too will receive updates like a new dashboard design along with the instrument cluster. An updated infotainment system along with new fabric upholstery can come with the upcoming Kwid.
Regarding the safety purpose, the new Kwid will also see some structural modifications to comply with the crash test norms. Also, the hatchback will now come with a driver-side airbag, Antilock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Reverse parking sensors, Front seat belt reminders and High-speed alert system across all variants.
The mechanical changes will remain the same except the engines will be now BS6 compliant. The on-going Kwid makes 54 bhp with 72 Nm of peak torque from a 0.8-litre petrol motor. The bigger 1.0L engine produces 67 bhp with 91 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and an AMT.
With the new design and BS6 compliant engines, the prices for the Kwid will see a premium to over what it is now. The current Renault Kwid starts at a price of Rs 2.88 lakh and the top trim goes at Rs 4.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
