The 4WD variants have been discontinued completely along with the base-spec S3 variant. Earlier, it came with two engine options out of which, the 2.5 Litre unit for the S3 variant has been discontinued. Now, BS6 Mahindra Scorpio comes with a single 2.2 Litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, that produces 140 BHP and 320 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard.

Features onboard the BS6 Scorpio include Static Bending Projector headlamps, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Rain Sensing Wipers, Automatic Headlamps, tyre pressure monitoring system, automatic AC, Cruise Control, Manual Seat Height Adjustment for driver and Hydraulic Power steering. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with a camera.

The new generation Scorpio is under testing and is likely to debut by the end of 2020. It will sit on a new platform with a completely revised styling, new petrol and diesel engines and more features. Spy shots reveal that it might lose its tall-boy silhouette and rather go for a boxy and traditional SUV look.
