Tata Hexa

Here’s a digital rendering of Tata Hexa Facelift that gets its front portion completely inspired by the Harrier. Do you think it looks good?

Tata has temporarily discontinued Hexa in India due to the BS6 emission norms. At the Auto Expo 2020, the manufacturer showcased Hexa Safari Edition, a slightly different model from the current one. With some cosmetic tweaks and probably a facelift, Tata is going to relaunch it towards the end of this year.

Here is a digital rendering of Tata Hexa facelift and what it would look like. All the new Tata cars are coming with Impact 2.0 design language, including Harrier and Altroz. The rendering shows us how would the Hexa facelift would look if it inspired by the Harrier. The front portion seems to be identical to the SUV.

There is the humanity smile grille with sleek LED DRLs flanking on both the sides. On the tweaked front bumper, you get the headlamps instead of chunky wraparound units on the earlier one. Then there are bigger 19-inch alloy wheels which look bulky. Interestingly, Tata used to offer one earlier however, it was soon replaced with smaller 17-inch wheels.

Coming back to the BS6 Hexa, it could possibly continue with its same 2.2 Varicor diesel engine. The engine was good for 154 PS and 400 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT. The manual variants had an option of either Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) or AWD configuration, whereas the AT variants only came with RWD.

Changes other than a BS6 engine could include a new touchscreen infotainment system, an updated cabin, powerful projector headlamps, LED DRLs and lastly, new alloys. Hexa might be the most outdated car in Tata’s lineup but its got a great fan following of people who have ignored the features but gone on the driving experience.

The Hexa was priced from Rs 13.7 lakhs to Rs 19.27 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). Tata might not offer all the variants like earlier but rather in just one or two. That way the prices will also be lower than earlier and it would be a better proposition. The competitors will be same as earlier including Toyota Innova Crysta, MG Hector and Mahindra XUV500.
