This is the first ownership review of the VW Taigun by the owner himself. The mid-size SUV was launched recently to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Based on the MQB A0 IN platform, the Taigun is the sibling of the Skoda Kushaq, which is the first product on this platform. VW is pinning all its hopes on this SUV to start its second innings in India. The aim is to expand its footprint in our market. While we have seen plenty of EPC issues with the Kushaq, VW seems to have done its homework to ensure that no such situation occurs with the Taigun. But how does it perform on all the other fronts, let us get to know from the owner himself, who has been driving his Taigun for quite some time now.

VW Taigun Ownership Review

The owner starts the video by explaining about the headlamps of the Taigun that has been requested by quite a few people. The Taigun features an LED projector headlights with LED DLRs seemlessly integrated into the chunky front grille finished in chrome. There is plenty of blingy bits on the bumper below as well. The owner tells that ther doors of the SUV are heavy but the fender area and roof lining are quite flimsy. The leather seats are ventitalted and the plastics on the dashboard and other areas is hard. But what is interesting is that there is some vibration during the start which could be felt on the front seat and gear lever. Apart from that, the ORVM operation is quite cumbersome to use with no dedicated button to control it. He is also happy with the mileage of around 12 km/l in the city.

Specs

The Taigun comes with two powertrain options including a 1.0-litre TSI engine, making 115hp and 175Nm and the second, a 1.5-litre TSI engine making 150hp and 250Nm. The smaller engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission option and the larger engine comes with a 7-speed DSG (DCT) gearbox. The prices of the VW Taigun range between Rs 10.54 lakh and Rs 17.54 lakh, ex-showroom. We hope that this post gives you some insight as to how does it feel to own a Taigun. This will, in turn, help you to make an informed decision if you are planning to buy a mid-size SUV.
