Tata Safari Hits Tractor-Trailer at 100 Kmph – Surprising Results

All the occupants of the Tata Safari were scratchless in the major accident with a loaded tractor-trailer.

Even though Tata Safari and Harrier are yet to be tested by NCAP, they are time and again proven their crashworthiness in major mishaps

Based on the Tata Harrier, the latest Safari is the third generation avatar of the legendary SUV. Being a flagship product, it comes brimming with convenience and comfort-enhancing features. it even gets a plethora of safety features such as 6 airbags, ESC, Traction Control, 4 disc brakes, etc. However, unlike more affordable models in the carmaker’s catalogue, the Tata Safari is yet to be tested by Global NCAP. Still, though, various mishaps have proven its robustness. Case in the point here is the latest mishap involving a loaded tractor-trailer.

Latest Tata Safari Accident

As per the commentary in the video embedded above, this accident took place in Uttar Pradesh. Apparently, the SUV was travelling a high speed on a highway when this accident occured. As informed above, the Tata Safari was doing speeds of about 100 kmph at the time of the accident. The mishap took place when a tractor-trailer travelling on the opposite road lost control. It jumped the divider and ended up in front of the SUV. The entire incident took place in mere seconds and didn’t give enough time for the SUV to come to a halt and avoid contact.

What’s amazing though is that the SUV kept its occupants scratchless in spite of the severity of the crash. There were 3 brothers travelling in the Tata Safari and all of them escaped totally unhurt. Although the Harrier-based SUV sustained major damages to its right-front-end. THe entire bumper has come off and so has the front fender. The wheel has come off and the vehicle could have suffered from a broken axle. A closer inspection reveals that despite the high damage, the pillar is in totally perfect shape. On the other hand, the tractor has been completely damaged. Both its axles have broken and it looks like the engine has come off the mounts. Luckily, the driver of the tractor is known to be safe.

It’s clear from this incident that the Tata Safari doesn’t need an NCAP score to validate its crash-worthiness. The 6/7-seater SUV has once again proven to be a sturdy car that can keep its occupants completely safe even in a really sticky situation like the one that this SUV faced. Tata Safari features a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre Kryotec Diesel motor that outputs 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox. Prices of the most expensive Tata model range from Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 23.29 lakh, ex-showroom.
