October-21, 2016-ย It’s no secret that General Motors has been struggling in India for a while now with below par performances from almost their entire product portfolio. The American automobile giant has recognized these issues and charted out a long term plan. This path toย recovery includes a brand new manufacturing facility and new models. The first of these new models was the Trailblazer SUV that was launched last year. However, it hasn’t quite managed to catch the fancy of India SUVย buyers. Beforeย the 2017 model comes to India, GM is looking to clear stocks of the existing model by offering a flat discount of Rs. 3.04 lakh! The 2015 Chevrolet Trailblazer now comes with a sticker price of Rs. 23.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Trailblazer, when launched, was priced at Rs. 26.4 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Now, GM India has given it a price cut of a little over 3 lakhs bringing the price down to Rs. 23.95 lakh. This new SUV from GM faces off with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the newย Ford Endeavour. The pricing was a little higher than what would have been ideal but that is down to the fact that the Trailblazer is being imported to India as a completely built unit or CBU.
GM India has reduced prices not just to clear stocks, but to also counter Ford India’s move. Recently, some variants of the Endeavour were given a hefty price cut of a little less than 3 lakhs. Also, Toyota will soon launch the next generation Fortuner in India and that will have a severe impact on the sales of its competitors.

The Trailblazer comes in only one trim with a 2.8 L Diesel mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. There is no 4WD option on offer. Although most people do not take their SUVs off the road and they are confined to the busy city roads, it still is a glaring omission.
Design
The design is a mix of typical Chevrolet SUV styling seen on bigger SUVs sold internationally with a healthy dose of soft-roader like design cues giving it enough street presence to please most buyers. The rear is a bit similar to that of the Fortuner with simple rectangular tail lamps and wraparound glass area.The Chevrolet Trailblazer gets a very butch looking exterior as well which would definitely work in its favour. The interiors are neat and come finished in black and beige with a healthy dose of glossy black elements on the centre console.
