While the likes of new Hyundai Elantra have been hogging all the limelight, the Skoda Octavia continues to have its own set of followers. The Octavia has always impressed both the enthusiasts and the chauffeur-driven. However, the Octavia can surely do with a dose of freshness to remain unfazed from the advent of new rivals. This is exactly where the launch of the Octavia facelift will help. But before the facelift comes our way, the manufacturer has some more plans for India. The facelift’s launch will be preceded by the Black Edition. Here are details on the Skoda Octavia Black Edition India launch date, price, specifications and features. 

The launch of the new Octavia Black Edition could happen in February 2017. Also coming our way is the Octavia vRS. However, official details on the exact launch date of these models are currently unavailable. One thing that’s for sure though is that the Black Edition will come to us before the facelift. The manufacturer recently released teaser images of a Skoda Octavia ‘Limited’ Edition via social media. We believe the limited edition model in question os the Skoda Octavia Black Edition.

The Skoda Octavia Black Edition carries several visual updates to make it more attractive. Highlights include black-painted door mirrors, new 18 inch mags, black painted roof and spoiler. Even the interior get a black theme. Engines will be carried over from the regular model. This means the Black Edition will get 1.4 TSI and 1.8 TSI petrol motors along with a 2.0 TDI Diesel engine.

As we said, official details are yet to be released. However, Skoda has started circulating teaser images of an upcoming Limited Edition of the Octavia. We’re expecting Skoda to launch the Black Edition Octavia by the end of February 2017.

Skoda Octavia Black Edition Price in India

It’s for sure that the Black Edition will command a premium over the regular models. However, what’s not known is if the Black Edition would be available on all three engine variants. Our guess is that this special edition would be exclusive to the 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines. Skoda Octavia Black Edition India – Specifications

The Black Edition will get its engines from the regular models. However, it’s not for sure if all the three engine options will be made available on the Black Edition. Currently, the Octavia is available with 2 Petrol and a Diesel engine. The 1.4 TSI Petrol outputs 148 BHP – 250 Nm. The 1.8 TSI offers 177 BHP and 250 Nm. The 2.0 Diesel on the other hand produces 141 BHP and 320 Nm. While the 1.8 TSI gets a 7 speed DSG automatic, the Diesel gets a 6 speed DSG. The 1.4 TSI and the 2.0 TDI also get a 6-speed Manual ‘box. Of all these engines, the Black Edition is likely to get the 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI with automatic transmissions.

The Black Edition will help infuse some freshness with the Octy. This will help the Octavia soldier on unfazed before the facelift is launched here. We have always loved the clean lines and neat surfaces of the Octavia. And the Black Edition should work well to help give the car a touch of sportiness. Bits like a black-painted roof, spoiler and wing mirrors are sure to bring some excitement to the design. Also, the new alloys should further spice things up. 

On the inside, this special edition Octy will come with an all-black theme. It will get premium leather upholstery and probably silver highlights.
