The 2018 Maruti Future S Concept will be one of the many Maruti Suzuki cars at Auto Expo 2018. Basically, this concept previews an upcoming small car that will have several crossover characteristics. The production-spec model will rival the likes of Renault Kwid and Datsun RediGo AMT. The Renault Kwid has successfully established itself in the market. While it is far from becoming a segment leader, it has definitely left a sizable dent in the sales of the Maruti Alto. In order to reclaim the lost territory, Maruti is readying a Kwid rival that will be based on the Future S concept.

Seen above is a speculative rendering of the upcoming 2018 Maruti Future S concept. As per the artist, the Future S will have a rather upright stance and a bold design. The front-end will be characterized by sharp headlamps with LED fixtures. There will be a chunky front bumper with a huge airdam. This will give the front-end an aggressive loo. The Suzuki logo will be placed just below the grille and the concept will feature a high bonnet, steep A-pillar and a high beltline. Also, the design study is likely to have a slightly sloping roofline and pronounced shoulders, too. The concept car will offer a high seating position along with a high ground clearance. The horizontal hood and high seating will give the driver a commanding view of the road. Such design features have so far been restricted to premium crossovers from the company.
Speaking on the new Maruti Future S, Mr.CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki said, “The increasing preference for UVs and their bold architecture inspired our design team to study a new character for compact cars. The new Maruti Small car that will rival the Renault Kwid is currently in concept stages. However, it is sure to gain in plenty from the 2018 Future S concept. There are good chances that the new car would go on sale by mid-2019. The concept model, on the other hand, will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2018.

The upcoming 2018 Maruti Future S concept-based Kwid rival is likely to be slightly costlier than the Alto. The SUV-like design and a more spacious cabin will justify the higher price tag. Much like the Kwid, the upcoming new Future S concept-based small car will offer both 800cc and 1000cc engines. Also, the bigger engine variant is also likely to get an AMT.

Engines and transmissions for the production-spec 2018 Maruti Future S will come from the Alto twins. This means the new Maruti small car that will be based on the Future S concept will offer both 800cc and 1000cc engines. The 1000cc motor could even get an AMT to take on the Kwid AMT.
