Just like it has been a sunny year for the bikes, the same is with scooters. Although the number of launches for scooters is less when compared to bikes. Here is the list of top 5 scooter launches of 2018.

2018 saw main two-wheeler brands launching some important and currently, amongst the best-selling models. This implies for both motorcycles and scooters.

Particularly, in case of scooters, we saw some modern-age scooters in the market. The list includes scooters from TVS, Honda, Suzuki, Hero and an Electric scooter as well. 

Alongside, electric scooter concept is increasing as many people are now interested for it. They are used for eatables delivery purposes and also for private use.

TVS launched its highly appreciated scooter, Ntorq 125 in the starting of 2018. It is the most feature laden and technologically-advanced scooter in India. It comes with a bluetooth connected speedometer with GPS navigation, incoming call alert, lap timer and much more. Ntorq is also amongst the cheapest option in the premium 125cc scooter segment. It primarily competes with Suzuki Burgman Street, Honda Grazia and Aprilia SR 125.

Honda Activa 5G

At the 2018 Auto Expo, Honda Activa 5G was unveiled, following which it was launched in June. The best-selling scooter of India got better and updated with some of the latest features. It now comes with a USB charging slot, LED headlamps and a digital-analogue instrument cluster. However, all the mechanicals and bodywork remain the same as earlier. It competes with the likes of TVS Jupiter, Hero Pleasure and Yamaha Fascino.

Ather 340 and 450

Ather is a Bengaluru-based startup which manufactures pure electric scooters. It launched Ather 340 and 450 in India, opening a new segment of premium electric scooters. Available in 1.92 kWh and 2.4 kWh lithium-ion battery packs, it is one of the most futuristic scooters seen. While Ather 340 offers a riding range of 60 kms, 450 offers 75 km on full-time charge. As of now, most of the electric scooters are low priced, making Ather one of the most expensive ones.

Suzuki Burgman Street

This scooter has improved the scooter business for Suzuki, which was decreasing as it only had 2 scooters in its stable. With its slightly high pricing, it competes with the likes of TVS Ntorq 125, Honda Grazia and Aprilia SR 125.

Hero Destini 125

The last one on the list is the recently launched Hero Destini 125. Destini is Hero’s first step in the 125cc scooter segment. Most importantly, it misses out on an optional disc brake. It competes with the likes of Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125.
