Ahead of the launch this week, dealerships have revealed the claimed mileage figures of Yamaha MT-15. Display and Test Ride units of the bike have started reaching dealerships.

Yamaha MT-15 is all set to be launched in India this Friday. The launch is scheduled to happen at the Buddh International Circuit, followed by a Media Ride. We will be out with a review of the naked streetfighter soon.

Ahead of the launch, the dealerships have started receiving the display and test ride units. The bookings have also commenced officially, for amounts ranging between Rs 1000 to Rs 5000.

MT series is the naked streetfighter series, basically a naked version of the popular ‘R’ series. Likewise, the MT-15 is based on the popular R15 V3, sharing the engine and specifications.

Rushlane reveals that their dealership sources have confirmed the official mileage details. The claimed fuel economy of Yamaha MT-15 is 45 kmpl. Regular 150cc motorcycles also offer a similar mileage range.

MT-15 uses the same engine that comes on R15 V3. The 155cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine produces 19.1 BHP and 14.8 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Yamaha has tuned this engine to Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) System. It helps in equal torque distribution over the RPM range. Combined with fuel injection, this system helps in maintaining the fuel economy even during aggressive riding.

On our road test of Yamaha R15 V3, we got a surprising average fuel economy of 50 kmpl. We expect the Yamaha MT-15 to also deliver a similar mileage, despite hard acceleration and hard braking.

Dealerships have also confirmed that it will get dual-ABS setup as standard fitment. It is compulsory for two-wheelers above 125cc to be equipped with ABS. Even R15 V3 received ABS in January itself.

Other features onboard will include LED headlamps, step up seats, fully digital instrument console, fuel injection system and much more. The pillion will yet again be worried because of the missing grab rails.

Our price expectations for the Yamaha MT-15 range between Rs 1.2 Lakhs to Rs 1.3 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and KTM Duke 125.
