Maruti Suzuki Ertiga 1.3-litre Diesel Engine Discontinued

The only engine left is the 1.5-litre oil burner and the 1.5-litre BS6 compliant naturally aspirated petrol engine in the Ertiga’s line-up.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been receiving quite a updates and the recent one is the smaller 1.3-litre diesel engine to be axed out. This engine came with SHVS (mild hybrid) technology and produced 89 bhp at 2,000 rpm with a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1,750 rpm.

Now on the list is the 1.5-litre in-house diesel engine and a 1.5L BS6 naturally aspirated petrol engine for Maruti Ertiga. The only diesel engine first made its debut with the Ciaz and this motor churns out 95 bhp with 220 Nm of peak torque. Transmission option includes a 6-speed manual gearbox only. However, after April 1, 2020, this engine will be discontinued due to the upcoming BS6 norms.

The petrol engine recently received its BS6 update and produces a total of 105 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a four-speed torque converter unit or a 5-speed manual gearbox. This comes with SHVS technology which enhances the fuel efficiency.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga offers Remote keyless entry, Day/night inside rearview mirror, Multi-function steering wheel, Automatic climate control, Push button start/stop and SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation.

Safety Features onboard include Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat mounts, Hgh speed alert system, Seat Belt Reminders, Rear parking sensors and camera, Electronic Stability Program (AT), Hill Hold Function (AT).

In other news, Maruti recently brought in the CNG trims of the Ertiga. It is based on the 1.5L petrol engine only and churns out 92 bhp and 122 Nm of peak torque. This trim also doesn’t get the SHVS (mild hybrid) technology.

The manufacturer is also gearing up for the rugged and premium form of MPV, the XL6, which is based on the Ertiga. This upcoming vehicle will go against the likes of Mahindra Marazzo in a much better way.
