Kia has commenced exports of the Seltos that have been manufactured at its plant in Andhra Pradesh. The SUV is priced starting at Rs 9.69 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

The global unveiling of the Kia Seltos happened in India first, and our market was the first to actually receive the SUV. The Kia Seltos is locally manufactured at its Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh plant, from where it will be exported as well.

Reports confirm that the first consignment of exports of Kia Seltos has already been shipped from the Chennai port. Around 471 units of Kia Seltos include its exports this time, most likely to South America. Other markets for the SUV are South-East Asia and Africa.

Nearly 30% of the total production will be allotted for the exports. The exact production numbers are yet to be revealed, but we are guessing that the numbers should be around 5000 units a month. Currently, the waiting period is between a month to 3 months, depending on the variant you choose.

While reports indicate that the top-end GTX+ in turbo-petrol DCT and Diesel-Auto setups are the highest selling, we are yet to get the exact waiting period for all variants from our dealership sources.

Kia Seltos is the first offering from Hyundaiโ€™s sister brand for India. It is based on the Hyundai Creta, using the same platform. The prices start off at Rs 9.69 Lakhs up to Rs 16.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom), including over 9 variants in total.

Seltos is offered with three engine options, including a 1.5 Litre petrol unit, a 1.4 Litre turbo-petrol unit and a 1.5 Litre diesel unit, all three BS-6 compliant. In the next-generation of Creta, these three engines will be carried over.

All the engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The petrol variant gets a CVT gearbox, the diesel one with a torque-converter unit and the turbo-petrol unit with a 7-speed DCT. Just like the engines, the new Creta might also get these transmission options.

Features onboard the Seltos include, Bose 8-way speakers, electronically adjustable driver seats, 360-degree camera, tyre-pressure monitoring system, Air purifier, Heads-up Display, Wireless charging, 10.25-inch HD infotainment screen, Multiple driving modes, Six Airbags, Front Parking sensors and much more. Just like Hyundaiโ€™s trait, Kia is also the most feature equipped SUV in its segment.

Coming 2020 Auto Expo, we are going to see two more cars from Kia Motors. One will be the Kia Carnival MPV, which will be positioned above the Innova Crysta in terms of prices. The second will be a sub-4-metre compact SUV, based on the Hyundai Venue.
