However, the company has reassured that Bajaj Urbanite brand will see a lot of battery-powered products launching. Currently, it is India’s third largest electric two-wheeler maker.

Another set of reports say that Bajaj could launch an electric bike in India first. It will be performance oriented instead of mass-market models. Bajaj’s E-Bike will go against Tork T6X electric bike.

Bajaj wants to model the Urbanite brand as Tesla. It wants to do a top to down approach for scooters as well as bikes. So, even if it plans to launch an electric scooter, expect it to be placed on the premium end.

At the premium end of electric scooter space, we have models from Ather and Okinawa. Both the startups have their scooters priced above Rs 1 Lakh.
