Select dealerships across the country have now started accepting bookings for the BS-6 Yamaha R15 V3 and MT-15, set to be launched on December 19.

Yamaha is going to launch the BS-6 compliant R15 V3 and MT-15 on December 19. Ahead of that, dealerships have started accepting the bookings for both the bikes. The token amount has been set for Rs 5,000.

The engine specs of both the bikes have already been leaked. The 155cc liquid-cooled DOHC VVA engine will now produce 18.36 BHP instead of 19.3 BHP on the BS-4 version. The reduction in power figures indicates an increase in mileage. The torque on the BS-6 version is unknown but in its current state, it produces 14.8 Nm of torque.

Other than that, there will be no further changes on the BS-6 Yamaha R15 V3 and MT-15. Reports suggested that Yamaha is working on a Bluetooth-connected speedometer for its motorcycles like R15, R3, MT-03 and MT-15.

Yamaha R15 V3 and MT-15 use the same engine, same chassis and same components as well. Its just the former is a fully faired sportsbike while the latter remains a naked streetfighter. Because of the aerodynamics, the R15 produces 0.2 BHP more than MT.

For suspension, both use telescopic forks at the front and a swingarm with monoshock at the back. For braking, both the motorcycles come with front and rear disc brakes. However, the R15 gets dual-channel ABS whereas the MT gets a single-ABS unit.

Yamaha has confirmed that it will start launching the BS-6 models in a phased manner. The manufacturer has decided to discontinue several models because of the safety norms and upcoming BS-6 emissions. Models like R15S, Fazer 155 and SZ-RR have already been discontinued.
