Datsun will soon be launching an automatic CVT gearbox in the Go and Go+ and they have officially started accepting bookings at Nissan or Datsun dealerships.
We told you earlier that Datsun will launch an automatic CVT gearbox in the Go and Go+ and now they have officially started taking bookings for both the cars from yesterday onwards. You can now book the Go hatchback and the Go+ mini-MPV for a token amount of Rs. 11,000 – which is refundable – at any Nissan or Datsun dealership across the country.
The engine options for both the cars will remain the same as they come in the manual variants. The Datsun Go and Go+ automatic variants are powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine. However, with the automatic CVT gearbox, the engines put out more power at 77 bhp as compared to 68 bhp in the manual variants. The torque remains the same at 104 Nm.
The Datsun Go and Go+ automatic CVTs will come in two variants – T and T(O).ย Both the cars come pretty decently equipped for their segment. You get a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear washer/wiper and manual AC controls on both the trim levels. Further, the T(O) variant gets LED DRLs and 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.

With the option of the CVT automatic gearbox, the Datsun Go now competes with the automatic variants of the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. However, all the competitors come with AMT automatic gearboxes whereas Datsun’s choice of a CVT makes it the only hatchback in the segment to have so for a much premium experience with smoother gear changes. The Datsun Go+ automatic CVT does not have a direct rival as the Renault Triber is still yet to get an automatic gearbox.
