The new BMW 530i Sport is the new entry point in the 5-series range for a price of Rs 55.40 lakhs. It gets a 252hp 2.0L petrol engine but loses out on some features from the M Sport variant.
BMW has launched a new entry-level variant of the 5-Series petrol lineup in India. The new BMW 530i Sport has been launched in India for a price of Rs 55.40 lakh in an attempt to expand the 5-Series lineup. The BMW 5 Series lineup in India now consists of two petrol and two diesel variants. The top-spec petrol 530i M Sport costs Rs 60.90 lakh, while the diesels include the 520d Luxury Line and the 530d M Sport, which are priced at Rs 59.30 lakh and Rs 66.80 lakh respectively.
The BMW 530i Sport is powered by a BS6-compliant, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine which produces 252hp at 5,200rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,450-4,800rpm. In fact, its the same engine that’s also offered on the top-spec M Sport Variant. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The 530i Sport also features five drive modes – Comfort, Eco Pro, Sport, Sport+ and Adaptive.
In terms of safety features, the 530i Sport gets features such as six airbags, ABS with brake assist, cornering brake control, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, side impact protection, ISOFIX child seat mounts and three-point seatbelts for all five passengers.
Being an entry-level variant, its not so short on its features list either. It gets dual-zone automatic climate control, BMW display key, ambient lighting, adaptive LED headlights, an electric sunroof, a 12.3-inch multi-functional instrument display, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, navigation, BMW apps and gesture control compatibility.
However, compared to the top-spec M Sport variant, the 530i Sport loses out on features such as the M Sport exterior package, active damper control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, 360-degree parking camera, ‘Dakota’ leather upholstery and wireless charging. The BMW 5 Series range competes with other luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz E-class (Rs 59.08-75.29 lakh), the Jaguar XF (Rs 54.84 lakh), Audi A6 (Rs 54.42-59.42 lakh) and the Volvo S90 (Rs 51.90-58.90 lakh).
