Honda has unveiled its first BS-6 scooter in India, the Activa 125. It now gets Programmed Fuel Injection System and a new Silent Start System. Besides, the new model also gets many features onboard.
The scooter has been unveiled yet and the launch is scheduled by end of August 2019. Honda has confirmed that the prices will increase by just 10-15%, but the complete prices will be disclosed later.
For the first time, Honda has introduced the intelligent start-stop system in its scooter. The Honda Activa 125 BS-6 gets i3S and side stand indicator with auto-engine off.
New features onboard include a revised instrument console, riding range, instanteous fuel economy, average mileage, i3S technology, external fuel filler cap and much more. These all features come on a Honda scooter for the first time.
Cosmetic changes are minor, including chrome detailing on the side apron, revised LED headlamps and tail lights and some reshuffling in the colour option. It looks a bit more premium than the current one.
Further, it uses ACG starter, basically a silent ignition. The initial ignition sound remains no more and we can directly hear the engine noise. The new Activa 125 also gets side stand indicator with engine inhibitor, basically switches off the engine when the side stand is put down.
The engine specs are also unknown as of now, but the performance and mileage will slightly increase. It is the second scooter in India to get Fuel Injection System, the first being Hero Maestro Edge 125.
For suspension, the Honda Activa 125 BS-6 uses telescopic forks at the front and a 3-step adjustable monoshock at the back. Braking is handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the back with CBS.
As of now, the BS-4 Activa 125 has been discontinued. It will be available in the market till the stocks last. The sales for the BS-6 version are scheduled to commence by the end of 2nd Quarter this year.
