Honda Compact SUV India launch could happen in mid-2016
Earlier it emerged that Japanese auto major Honda has been busy developing an India-specific compact SUV that could be launched sometime next year. This revelation of sorts came just days after Honda introduced the Vezel/H-RV compact SUV to the world. As we have been saying, the Vezel isn’t India bound due to the high input costs that would have been involved in bringing the latest Honda compact SUV to our shores. Instead, the manufacturer is said to be working on an altogether different compact SUV for our market. The upcoming Honda compact SUV could make its public debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, where it might just bump into a rival in form of the upcoming Maruti compact SUV/Vitara Brezza. The Honda compact SUV India launch will happen next year, in all probability, around June. This means that the upcoming model would be here in time to prevent the Maruti Vitara Brezza to enjoy the first mover’s advantage for long.

The new Honda SUV will share in plenty with the Mobilio MPV and would likely get the same set of motors among other bits. It is being said that Honda Cars India recently took some of its dealers to its R&D facility in Japan, where it showed them the upcoming compact SUV for the first time ever! As per reports, the upcoming SUV will be the size of a Renault Dusterย and could come with a seven-seat option to hold a definite edge over the likes of Ford EcoSport.
Obviously, it will look a lot more aggressive than the Mobilio and while it might share a similar front fascia, plastic cladding and larger wheels are sure to add a muscular touch to the upcoming model. It maybe noted that Honda has received quite some flak for the rather plain jane interiors of the Mobilio, Amaze and Brio, and in all probability, the upcoming Honda compact SUV for Indian car market would have a much more premium cabin.
