The platform on which the Hyundai Venue compact SUV is going to be based upon is likely to spawn a compact MPV which will rival the Maruti Ertiga in 2020.
The budget MPV segment in
The Hyundai Venue will use the same platform as that of the current spec Grand i10 an Xcent. However, it will be modified in order to accommodate the extra wheelbase. A recent report published in NDTV suggests that Hyundai could launch the Venue based MPV in India as early as next year.
In addition to sharing the same platform as that of the Hyundai Venue, the new MPV from the South Korean automaker might also get the same engine specifications as the latter. For reference, the sub-compact SUV is going to launch in India with both petrol as well as diesel engine derivatives.
The petrol variants are going to come with a 1.2-litre, turbocharged engine while the diesel derivatives could get a 1.4-litre unit borrowed from the Creta. The transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition to this, select variants will also get the option of a 5-speed AMT unit.
Just like the Hyundai Venue and its competition to be, the Maruti Ertiga, the new MPV from Hyundai is going to come with quite a decent equipment list. Features can include LED projector headlamps, Daytime running lights, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play among other features to name a few. Safety features will include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors along with speed alert systems would be standard fitments.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is currently priced in-between the range of INR 7.74 lakh to INR 10.90 Lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the Hyundai Venue base MPV to fall under the same price bracket in order to stay competitive.
