There’s a new entrant in the mid-size 20 Lakhs SUV segment. Skoda has now introduced the India-spec Karoq SUV at the Auto Expo 2020. It will compete with the newly unveiled Volkswagen T-Roc, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson Facelift.
Karoq gets a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, that produces 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. There only one gearbox options available, the 7-speed DSG gearbox. The top speed achievable on the SUV is 202 km/hr. It goes from 0-100 km/hr in just 9 seconds.
The India-spec Karoq is 4.3m long and gets a wheelbase of 2358mm. It sits between the upcoming Vision SUV and Skoda Kodiaq. Just like the T-Roc, Karoq is also expected to come in through the CBU route.
Highlights of the Skoda Karoq SUV include 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, full auto LED headlamps and Stone beige leather seats. Features onboard include Panoramic electric sunroof, the famous Virtual Cockpit, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat and dual-zone climate control.
Safety features will include nine airbags, ABS with EBD, Parktronic system(Advance Parking Aid), adaptive cruise control, iBuzz, electronic stability control (ESC) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
Skoda is going to launch the Karoq SUV this year, with estimated pricing of around Rs 20 Lakhs. The prices will be comparatively higher than its rivals because it will be directly imported. Once its demand picks up, we can expect Skoda to work on its pricing strategy.
Meanwhile, it has also unveiled the Vision SUV a couple of days back. Skoda has showcased it as a concept and might launch it by sometime in 2022. It will go against Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
