Kia India 15 Lakh Production Milestone

This makes it the fastest and youngest carmaker to achieve this incredible feat

Kia India has accomplished a mighty impressive milestone of producing a whopping 1.5 million (15 lakh) ‘Made in India’ cars. Averaging out, this comes out to be around 30 cars per hour. Ever since launching the first vehicle, Seltos, in India back in 2019, the Korean auto giant has been breaking all the records on the sales charts. Today, it sells 7 models in our market, including Seltos, Syros, Sonet, Carens, Carnival, EV6 and EV9. This covers a vast range of market segments. Hence, the needs of all sorts of buyers are taken care of.

Kia India Rolls Out 1.5 Million (15 Lakh) ‘Made in India’ Cars

The 1.5 millionth vehicle was manufactured at the state-of-the-art plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, on April 25, 2025. It was the Carens family car, which offers the latest amenities and immense practicality. Talking about the Carens, Kia also announced that the new avatar will launch on May 8. It promises to be even smarter, safer and evolved. The Anantapur facility has so far manufactured over 700,668 units (46.7%) of Seltos, followed by 519,064 units (34.6%) of the Sonet, 241,582 units (16.1%) of the Carens, 23,036 units (1.5%) of the Syros and 16,172 units (1.1%) of the Carnival.

Speaking on this occasion, Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and CEO, Kia India, said, “Rolling out our 1.5 millionth ‘Make in India’ vehicle is a proud and emotional moment for Kia India and every partner who has been a part of this journey. Kia has been one of the most successful foreign car marques in India ever. It has been achieving sales milestones with each passing year. People have really taken a liking to its feature-laden and stylish products. Moreover, it operates in most popular market segments to capture a huge chunk of our burgeoning industry. Let us see how well it is able to carry this momentum ahead.
