Mahindra’s new product XUV300 for the compact SUV segment and the Marazzo for the MPV segment helped the manufacturer in sales.
When most car manufacturers are suffering due to the low sales because of the market sentiment of not owning cars, Mahindra & Mahindra shines bright by being the only manufacturer to report a growth of 4% in car sales for the month of June 19. Mahindra sold a total of 18,826 units of passenger vehicles this June compared to only 18,137 units.
Mahindra also saw an increase of 8% in sales from the utility car segment for the month of June 19. The manufacturer sold a total of 17,723 units compared to the 16,408 units last year. However, the sales of passenger cars and vans saw a fall of 36% by selling just 1103 units as opposed to 1729 units for June ’18.
Talking about the monthly performance, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing, Automotive Division, M&M said, “The market sentiment continued to remain subdued, especially in the Passenger Vehicles segment.
Furthermore, At Mahindra, we are happy to register a growth of 4 per cent in the Passenger Vehicles segment and 8% in the Utility Vehicles segment, on the back of our three recent product launches. Further, we continued to correct our channel inventory both in the personal and commercial vehicle segments in June 2019.”
Mahindra’s commercial vehicle segment also saw a decrease of 15% along with the export sales stuck at just 3076 as opposed to 3466 citing a fall of 11%. The domestic sales limited to 39,471 units which saw a decrease of 5%.
Mahindra XUV300 was launched earlier this year and it turned out to be a game changer for the manufacturer. Citing to an 8% increase in the utility vehicles segment, XUV300 can be an answer for the increase in sales. The sub-4-metre compact SUV received over 26,000 bookings and has rolled out more than 25,000 units.
Mahindra Marazzo is yet another name Mahindra can count upon their success. The MPV crossed 10,000 bookings last year itself and it competes with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta. It gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine which churns out a total of 120 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm.
