Mahindra Marazzo is the name is the U321 MPV set to launch in India ahead of the festive season this year. Its main rival to be Toyota Innova Crysta.
Mahindra has today announced the name of its upcoming premium MPV for India. Inspired by the Shark, the homegrown automaker has decided to call this Toyota Innova challenger the Marazzo. At a press event today, Dr Pawan Goenka,ย Managing Director – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. revealed that the Marazzo is going to launch in India ahead of Diwali this year. However, the company executive did not disclose the official launch date of this premium MPV as of yet. That said, the automaker has instead shared some other interesting details of the Marazzo. Going by these, the MPV seems to be quite potent and has the capability to take on well-established players in the market.

A Completely New Vehicle
The Mahindra Marazzo is an altogether new vehicle from the stable of the homegrown automaker. It does not use the chassis of an existing product from the automaker’s line-up. Furthermore, it is not going to replace any existing vehicle from Mahindra’s portfolio. The Marazzo or the U321 has been developed from scratch with inputs of multiple teams. These include Mahindra Design Studio, Pininfarina, MNATC and MRV.

The Largest Mahindra Vehicleย By Far
Mahindra has revealed that the U321 Marazzo is going to have the largest ‘Footprint’ of any vehicle that it has produced so far. This means that it will have acres of space on the inside. In fact, the automaker has said that this MPV is going to come in both seven as well as eight seater layout.

It Will Be Quite Premium
The Marazzo is going to sit relatively quite close to the Mahindra XUV 500 in terms of its pricing. And as we all know, the later is Mahindra’s current flagship product. Also, with the recent update, Mahindra has made the cabin of the XUV 500 quite plush. So, we are expecting a similar or even better experience from the Marazzo. Mahindra has already revealed that the U321 MPV is going to have leather upholstery. Furthermore, the automaker has said that this vehicle will have pretty low NVH levels with the ride quality being quite sublime.

To Get An All-New Engine
The homegrown automaker has so far made no revelationsย regarding the powertrains of the Marazzo MPV. However, it has confirmed that it is going to get a completely new engine. Developed in-house by Mahindra, the automaker says that this engine is going to provide both performances as well as good fuel efficiency numbers.

Inspired By A Shark
The entire U321 project takes its inspiration from a Shark. The designers have made sure that the elements of a shark i.e. the personality of this underwater creature is portrayed in every aspect of this MPV. Hence, it gets a sleek and aerodynamic silhouette, a shark fin antenna, shark fin inspired tail-lamps and ambient lighting in the cabin to mimic an underwater effect.
