The Mahindra XUV 300 is going to launch in India with 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
On the 14th of February this year, Mahindra is going to launch one of the most highly anticipated products of the year 2019. The XUV300, which is based on the X100 platform derived from the SsangYong Tovoli, will arrive in India on the 14th of February and try to take on rivals in the sub-compact SUv segment in India. This segment, which currently is lead by the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, also has other products which include the likes of the Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport.
The XUV 300, unlike its biggest competitor, Vitara Brezza, is going to launch in India with petrol as well as diesel engine in its line-up. The petrol derivative is going to be a 1.2-litre unit capable of churning out 110 BHP of power along with 200 Nm of peak torque.
The diesel engine on the other hand is a 1.5-litre unit. This is the same oil-burner which made its debut in the Mahindra Marazzo. However, for the XUV 300, it comes with a slightly detuned version and hence churns out 115 BHP of power along with 300 Nm of peak torque.
Both these engines, at the time of launch, are going to get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. There will be no automatic transmission option as of now. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza comes with a 1.3-litre diesel engine. This engine is capable of producing 89 BHP of power along with 200 Nm of peak torque. This makes the diesel derivative of the Vitara Brezza less powerful than that of the Mahindra XUV 300.
Apart from having a more powerful engine in comparison to its arch-rival, the Mahindra XUV 300 also scores better when it comes to offering features and creature comforts, and that too from the base variant onwards. The base trim of this XUV300 comes with all-wheel disc brakes, a 2-din audio system for the diesel derivatives with 4-speakers, all power windows, rear parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS and EBD.
The top-spec variant of the Mahindra XUV 300 comes with features such a LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, sunroof, front parking sensors, electric tail-gate release, leather upholstery to name a few.
