The new structure of the Maruti Eeco is made to withstand the crash tests.
We earlier told you about how the Eeco will be updated to the latest BS6 petrol engine from Maruti. Well, that has taken a halt as of now but Maruti has updated the Eeco with the latest safety norms and has also increased the price for the same.
Maruti Suzuki Eeco has been updated with the latest structural reinforcements which further increase the price of the vehicle by Rs 6,000 – Rs 9,000, depending upon each model. The latest safety norms come into effect from October 1. 2019.
Maruti has decided to stick the Eeco in its portfolio for its wide variety of options. The vehicle is available in 5-seater, 8-seater and also can be used for Ambulances, Cargo and among others.
Maruti Eeco got its safety features upgraded on April 1, 2019. The vehicle received driver side airbag, Antilock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, High speed alert system, Reverse parking sensors and front seat belt warning. The vehicle also received a new steering wheel from the Alto as to accomodate the airbag unit.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki Eeco gets a BS4 compliant petrol engine. The 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated, four cylinder petrol motor produces up to 74 bhp on tap with a peak torque of 101 bhp.
The vehicle is also available with a CNG option. Mind you, with the CNG the performance of the vehicle decreases. It produces 63 bhp along with 85 Nm of peak torque. Transmission option sticks to a 5-speed manual gearbox only for both the configurations.
Maruti will also update the Eeco with the latest BS6 engine. It uses a G-Series motor, unlike the latest K-Series. Since the car comes with a rear wheel drive option, it cannot come with the newest engine. The latter is used in Swift, Ignis, WagonR and Baleno and this BS6 engine only comes with cars with front wheel drive layout.
Once the BS6 engine comes with the Eeco, the performance and mileage will automatically decrease for the unit. Currently, the ARAI certified mileage sticks to 15.37 km/l for petrol and 21.94 km/kg for the CNG option.
Some of the features on the Eeco includes, dual tone interiors, Air conditioner, digital odometer and among others. The prices of the updated Maruti Eeco starts at Rs 3.61 lakh for the standard 5-seater base trim and goes up to Rs 6.60 lakh for the Eeco care. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
