After opening bookings a couple of days ago, Audi has announced the Q2 SUV will be launched in India on October 16, 2020. It will currently be the most affordable Audi in India and a new entry point in Audi’s SUV range.
Audi opened bookings for the upcoming Q2 SUV just a couple of days ago and now the German automaker has announced that their new entry-level SUV will be launched in India on October 16. The Audi Q2 will be the new entry point into the brand in India as it will sit even below the Q3. Although it will not be the most affordable Audi there has ever been in India โ that tag goes to the Audi A3 sedan โ it will be priced very close to the last-gen A3. Bookings for the Q2 are currently ongoing at either any Audi dealership or at the brandโs website for a token amount of Rs 2 lakh.
Although this is going to be Audi Indiaโs new entry point into the brand โ until the new A3 arrives next year โ it will not be locally assembled here. Instead, the Q2 will come to India as a full import, utilizing the governmentโs provision which allows carmakers to bring as many as 2500 units of a car as imports and then sell here without the requirement of homologation. The car thatโs coming to India is however not the facelifted Q2 that was unveiled for Europe very recently. Instead, it will be the pre-facelift version.
Obviously, the Audi Q2 is targeted at a much younger audience, particularly those who are looking to buy their first luxury car in India. It will be readily identifiable by its smaller footprint than even the Audi Q3. But it sure has the Audi DNA in terms of design. The face gets a large single-frame grille flanked by LED headlamps on either side. Thereโs also generous body cladding all around but the tail lamps are squarish, quite unique for an Audi. The Q2 however does boast of a very funky color palette and we hope all of it makes it to India.

On the inside, the Audi Q2 has interiors similar to the previous-gen Audi A3 sedan and honestly, we are not complaining. Thankfully, the infotainment system is controlled via a swivel wheel on the center console and Audi hasnโt put their dual-infotainment screen layout here in the Q2. You also get physical buttons and dials for the climate controls. Some of the highlight features would include Audiโs MMI infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, and connected car technology. It also gets Audiโs virtual cockpit system.

The Audi Q2 will be powered by a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine in India, the same that powers the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. The engine produces 190hp and 320Nm of torque and it will come mated to 7-speed dual clutch transmission along with Audiโs quattro all wheel drive system. Audi claims a 0-100 kph time of just 6.5 seconds and top speed is rated at 228 kmph. When launched, the Q2 will have no direct rivals in India as it will sit below the Mercedes Benz GLA and the BMW X1. The launch is expected in the coming weeks in October itself and the price is expected to range between Rs 30-35 lakh.
