Tata is readying up the new Tiago facelift which will be launched soon. The changes will be related to design and possibly BS-6 engines.
The Tata Tiago is set to receive a facelift again as the new version has been spied in flesh. Tiago is expected to receive the upgrade soon, most likely by next month. Launch at the Auto Expo 2020 might also be a possibility.
The new Tata Tiago Facelift will sport some styling changes to make it look sharper. The changes might also be seen inside the cabin. Going by the spy shots, the new Tiago gets a completely new front bumper and sleeker headlamp design.
The spied Tiago gets a revised front grille, which now looks identical to the Altroz. The front grille is inspired by the Tata’s Humanity line. The bonnet has also been raised by a bit, to make it compliant to the pedestrian safety measures.
Under the hood, the new Tata Tiago Facelift will only get BS-6 compliant petrol engine. Tata has confirmed that it will discontinue the 1.05 Litre diesel engine on Tiago and Tigor. Tigor and Tiago diesel will only be sold till April 2020.
The 1.2 Litre three-cylinder petrol engine is capable of producing 85 PS and 114 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The automatic is offered on the top-end variants only.
Inside the cabin, the new Tiago might get refreshed upholstery and tweaks to the dashboard. We are not sure about when the BS-6 Tiago JTP will be launched, but it will just get the engine upgrades and nothing else.
Tata Tiago goes up against the Hyundai Santro, Datsun GO, Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Maruti Celerio. Amongst all its competitor, Tiago was the only one offered with a diesel engine till now. Celerio was also launched with a diesel engine but discontinued back in 2017.
