The upcoming Nissan Kicks SUV has been finally revealed through the sketches. Nissan themselves has given the sketches and also a video has been made for the same. The SUV has been spied a couple of times testing on the Indian roads. The latest spying was on the Nilgiri mountains. The SUV will be placed over the Nissan Terrano.
So when is it launching in India?
The most likely launch date for the Nissan Kicks is in the early months of 2019. The promotional activities and media drives are likely to begin in December.
What is the price that you can expect?
For sure, the Nissan Kicks will be placed over the Nissan Terrano. So we expect the prices to start at around Rs 10 Lakhs and go up to Rs 15 Lakhs. If it continues with this price, it will give a good competition to Creta.
What will the engine specifications of the Nissan Kicks be?
The SUV will most likely come in petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant will come with a 1.6 Litre petrol unit. This petrol engine produces around 110 BHP of power and 150 Nm of torque. The 1.5 Litre diesel engine gives 108 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque.
What are the transmission details?
We believe that the petrol variant will come paired to a 5-speed Manual gearbox along with an optional CVT. The diesel one could feature a 6-speed manual gearbox, but without the option of an automatic gearbox.
How much mileage can you expect from the Nissan Kicks?
The claimed mileage of the petrol engine is around 16 KMPL and the diesel engine is around 21 KMPL.

Will it be as feature-loaded as the Hyundai Creta?
Now, Hyundai cars are usually the most feature-loaded in their segment. Every car, literally. The features expected onboard the Nissan Kicks include Projector headlamps with LED DRLs. On the inside, you get a touchscreen infotainment system, auto climate, cruise control, steering mounted audio controls and Electric ORVMs. These features are surely coming with the SUV. It might get some more premium features too. So, as of now, we believe that it might come with a similar feature list.
What safety features will the Kicks carry?
It is reportedly going to come with Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts, Reverse Parking Sensors, Reverse Parking Camera and 360 degrees view for the driver through 4 cameras.
What chance does it have against Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur?
First of all, Nissan still does not have much control over the Indian markets. Most of its car like the Micra, Sunny and Terrano are doing just fine. Its partner, Datsun, and Renault are going comparatively good. Datsun hatchbacks are doing fine and Renault Kwid and Duster are doing good. So, we really do not know what response will it receive against Creta. However, if it gives a very similar feature list of Creta and undercuts the price even by 1-2 Lakhs, then it might get some attention.
