The 2018 Suzuki Jimny is all set to make its international debut soon. Recent developments suggest that it will make it to India disguised as the next-generation Maruti Gypsy. Its India launch is expected to happen sometime during the year 2019. According to some reports, Asahi Motors, a Suzuki dealership, has said that the Suzuki Jimny and Jimny Sierra might be revealed on 5th July. Suzuki has already commenced production and promotional activities for the SUV. Also, some ready sale models of the car were spotted in the dealerships and it was recently showcased to a select group of individuals in a closed event. By the looks of it, the generation update for this hard-core offroader will have a pretty decent and attractive exterior profile. Not only this, but it will also come with a stylish interior which will have an impressive equipment list.
Also, Suzuki Jimny and Jimny Sierra’s brochure has been leaked, telling about its features and cabin. The Sierra gets additional body cladding, wider tyres and slightly different alloy wheels. We believe that the Jimny Sierra will have the automaker’s 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine. The SUV is not going to get a diesel derivative as of now. This petrol engine is capable of producing 110 BHP along with 170 Nm of peak torque. The regular Jimny will get a 0.66 L petrol engine in Japan. The images also reveal that an automatic transmission will be on offer.
In terms of design, both get projector headlamps, black bumpers, turn indicators integrated into the outside rearview mirrors and a rear-mounted spare. There is an attachment slot noticed below the left ORVM, which could be used for a blind spot detection system. In the interiors, Suzuki’s Smartplay infotainment system, steering mounted controls, automatic air conditioning and more. Features list would include Projector Headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights, Keyless Entry, Automatic Climate Control, Push-Button Start-Stop and Reverse Parking Camera. The new Jimny is going to have dual-airbags and ABS as standard across the range. Furthermore, the off-roader will have EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) as well. The SUV is expected to launch by end of 2019. It is expected to be priced from Rs 5.4 Lakhs to Rs 6.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
