Tata Altroz is the upcoming premium hatchback which will compete with Baleno, Elite i20 and more.
Tata Altroz is expected to launch in July 2019 and the car has created quite a hype in itself. Several spy shots of the high altitude testing or the car caught shooting for television advertisement were spotted.
Tata Motors recently released a teaser video of their upcoming premium hatchback, Altroz. The much-anticipated car from the Indian manufacturers shows the braking skills along with steering capabilities, giving a test of owning the roads.
In addition to the teaser, Tata Motors also launched the official website of the premium hatchback and in less than 24 hours, it gained more than a lakh traffic. Tata is also planning to launch the Altroz EV but that is at a much later stage.
Speaking n the audience response on their website, Mr Vivek Srivastava, Head – Marketing, Passenger Vehicle, Business Unit of Tata Motors, said, “This is an immensely proud moment for all of us at Tata Motors. To receive such a reception for Altroz, months before its launch, speaks volumes for the trust consumers have in our brand as well as in our products.
Right from the unveiling of its concept at the Auto Expo last year, the Altroz has been a keenly followed product from our stable and the fact that we had to launch the website early due to such an encouraging response only validates that further. We hope the newly-launched website will continue to whet the curiosity of our followers and stakeholders alike by sharing timely information about the car, in days to come.”
Based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Platform which follows Impact 2.0 Design Language which is already seen on the Tata Harrier. This platform allows the Altroz with segment-leading and flat floor at the rear which provides enough legroom for the passengers sitting at the rear seat.
The exteriors of the car see split headlight design with agile grille up front, blacked out LED taillights along with blacked out rear door handles to give it a sporty look. The car also sits on 16-inch alloy wheels.
The interiors of the Tata Altroz see a floating touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity features. ABS with EBD, speed alert system, dual-front airbags, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminders are some of the standard safety features which will be seen in the car.
The powertrain will consist of two petrol and one diesel engine. For the diesel engine, it is expected to churn out 90 bhp. The diesel engine will be the same 1.5-litre turbocharged which will be borrowed from the Nexon, however, it will be detuned to give more mileage and easy driving.
The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will generate 85 bhp of power and will be borrowed from Tata Tiago. Another 1.2-litre turbocharged is also likely to come and the power output will be limited to 102 bhp and a healthy torque of 140 Nm. As of now, both the engines will be launched with a manual transmission. We can expect automatic gearbox at a later stage.
The pricing for the Tata Altroz will be similar to its competition and expect it to between Rs 5.70 lakh for the base trim and Rs 8.99 lakh for the top end trim. All prices are based on the ex-showroom, Delhi. Once launched, it will compete with Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and the recently launched Toyota Glanza.
