There are a total of 3 camouflaged Harriers testing. Looks like the Harrier can tackle any type of terrain.
The second teaser shows the Harrier going through the durability test on the machines in Tata’s testing facility.
Well, this is not the first time that we learn about its terrain testing. A lot of times it has been spotted testing in the hilly areas like Manali and Nilgiri mountains. It was also spotted at the Kari Motor Speedway in Tamil Nadu, undergoing fine-tuning of steering and suspension.
The Harrier is going to launch in the early months of 2019. Yes, it is for sure. Some time back, there was also a rumour that Tata Harrier will be unveiled on 20th January, in the Mumbai Marathon. Tata Motors is organizing the Mumbai Marathon 2019.
The Harrier is based on Land Rover’s D8 architecture and sits on the new Omega platform.
The SUV is mostly going to come with a 2.0 Litre Multijet diesel engine. The engine gives out 140 BHP of horsepower and a peak torque figure of 350 Nm. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as well as a 6-speed Automatic gearbox. The Automatic unit will be sourced from Hyundai.
We expect the Harrier to come off as a mild off-roader. For that, it will get different driving modes and an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. Also, it is getting an independent rear suspension setup.
A plethora of premium features should come aboard this SUV. We expect an electric sunroof, LED projector headlamps, Electrically adjustable seats, Heated passenger seats, different drive modes, and more such features.
Safety measures might include ABS, EBD, ESC, Traction Control, 6 airbags, Hill Start and Hill Descent Control system.
So, the price that we expect of the Harrier is starting from Rs 14 Lakhs up to Rs 20 Lakhs. At this price, Tata places it over the Hexa. The most likely competitors for Harrier will be Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV 500 and the Isuzu MU-X.
