A video on YouTube has surfaced where the new Tata Punch is shown being tested soft-roading. Punch is the upcoming micro-SUV from Tata Motors based on the HBX concept shown at the Auto Expo 2020. It garnered a lot of attention from visitors and automobile experts alike and the production-spec model resembles it too. One can expect the micro-SUV to be rugged and tough like the other Tata products as well. The video indicates this and also suggests a strong build quality and chassis which can take on some soft-roading adventures. The camouflaged Punch is seen climbing a hill with relative ease. Here are the details of the upcoming Tata Punch.
Tata Punch Soft-Roading
The video captures a lush green hilly area where the Tata Punch is gliding through the undualtions quite effortlessly. Granted, it isn’t the most challenging of terrains. But the hill-side does have some slope and there is not an ounce of tarmac. It can be termed as “Soft-Roading”. The tall body design and broad stance with high ground clearance lend well to ensure that the micro-SUV doesn’t face too many difficulties. Punch takes everything in its stride and moves forward. The Tata Punch will surely stir up the segment which features the likes of Maruti Ignis, S-Presso and Renault Kwid. The general trend is shifting towards SUVs even in the entry-level segments. So, it will be interesting to see what the Punch brings to the table once it launches.
Expected Specs and Features
The expected engine options might include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 86 hp. There might well be turbo petrol on offer as well. This engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. The expected prices of the Tata HBX are likely to be in the region of Rs 4 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, ex-showroom.
According to some spy videos, the features list might include things like a flat-bottom steering wheel which is becoming very popular with modern cars including some of Tata’s own products. This gives it a very sporty feel which is necessary for an SUV. Some of the other equipment lists include a floating Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Air-Con vents and Digital Instrument Cluster which might be borrowed from other Tata products.
