Tata Motors has been on a roll for the last couple of years with sales increasing constantly. It has also introduced and updated almost all its products to establish itself as one of the major carmakers in the country. Safety, as usual, remains at the centre of Tata’s priority list for all its products. Apart from that, Tata is also realizing the importance of convenience features which a lot of buyers look for in a car these days. As a result of this, it has launched the AMT version of its popular hatchback, Tiago. This variant will be called the Tiago XTA and is the 4th AMT option to the family of Tiago. This helps in diversifying the Tiago portfolio for the brand and offers its customers the flexibility to choose between various variants according to their needs.
Tata Tiago XTA
This new variant starts at Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom and will be based on the XT trim of the Tiago range. The Tiago boasts of a segment-best 4-star Global NCAP safety rating and that is part of the reason why it has been so successful in our market. The feature list of the Tiago is quite extensive, which includes features like a 7-inch Infotainment Touchscreen by Harman, Electrically adjustable Wings Mirrors with Powered Folding, On-board 3D Navigation through Navimaps, Steering Mounted Audio Controls, Voice Command Recognition, bold 15-inch alloy wheels, Automatic Climate Control and a Digital Instrument Custer, along with a ton more. The direct rivals of the Tiago are the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Wagon R and Hyundai Santro.
Tata Motors – Sales Report
Tata Motors has managed to achieve over 27,000 sales in the month of February for the first time in 9 years. This is a special milestone for the brand, establishing its popularity among the customers. This also marks a whopping 119% growth in sales on a YoY basis. What’s more interesting is that it is a marginal increase in growth over the last month as well. Tata Motors grew by 1% over January 2021. This shows the consistency of the products from Tata.
Tata Nexon and Altroz
The Nexon compact SUV continues to bring in the most sales for the carmaker with over 7,900 units sold in February. The Nexon was sold just 3,894 times in the same month last year, marking an impressive 104% growth in sales. The next successful product on the list is the only 5-star Global NCAP safety-rated hatchback in the country, the Altroz. Tata recently launched the turbo petrol variant of the Altroz called the iTurbo and the results are here. Tata sold over 6,800 units of the Altroz in February this year, compared to just over 2,800 units in February last year. This is a jaw-dropping 143% YoY sales growth.
Tata Tiago and Harrier
The story is similar with Tiago as well. In February 2020, Tata sold over 3,900 units of its hatchback, which reached 6,787 units in the same month this year. This, again, is a healthy growth of 73% YoY. The feature-packed mid-size SUV offering from Tata, the Harrier also witnesses a substantial rise in sales. Last month, Tata saw 2,030 units of the Harrier being sold to the customers as opposed to a mere 641 units in the same month last year. This is a massive 217% jump in sales stats.
Tata Tigor and Safari
Based on the Harrier, the newly-launched Safari also saw 1,707 sales in the month of February. This could be the beginning of the domination for the flagship offering from Tata Motors. Last, but not least, the only compact sedan offering from Tata Motors, the Tigor also observed a more than decent growth of 148% YoY. Whereas Tata sold a mere 782 units of the Tigor in February 2020, it sold over 1,900 units in February 2021. Apart from Tiago, all the other products of Tata Motors have seen over 100% growth in sales on a YoY basis, which is a huge motivation for the brand going forward.
