The Tata Tiago JTP, the performance version of Tiago, is reportedly going to launch in this festive season. So here are some interesting facts about the upcoming hot-hatch.
Tata Motors is all geared up to launch another version based on the Tiago. Recently, it launched the cross-version of Tiago – Tiago NRG. In the coming weeks, it will most likely launch the Tiago JTP too. Tata Tiago JTP is a performance-based version of the Tiago. JTP in the name stands from Jayem Tata Performance. Tata Motors has tied up with Jayem Auto for development of performance models. The Tiago JTP has been spotted testing many times and the just yesterday, we spied a Red Tiago JTP. So, here are some interesting facts that you need to know about the upcoming hot-hatchback.
Since it is performance hatchback, let’s talk about the engine specifications first. The exact details are not out yet, but most likely it will come with Nexon’s 1.2 Litre Revotron Turbo petrol engine. This engine produces 110 BHP and 150 Nm torque. Tiago JTP makes 25 HP and 35 Nm more than the normal Tiago.
Tata Tiago JTP will come only in petrol variant. Only a 5-speed manual gearbox will be on offer with the JTP. Along with this, there will be developments in the intake and exhaust system too.
Along with mechanical changes, it will also get visual upgrades. The JTP looks sporty enough and somewhat better than the standard Tiago. At the Auto Expo, we saw the hatchback in a metallic Silver type colour scheme and the recent spied image is of a red JTP.
A new and sportier set of alloy wheels are on offer. Also, it gets a body kit, ‘JTP’ badges on the front grille and on the boot, dual-tone colour option, and a larger air dam. We can see that the fog lamp housing has been revised along with new smoked projector headlamps.
At the rear portion, it gets a dual-tone bumper with faux air vents, double exhaust system, and the rear spoiler. We expect it to come in a variety of colour options.
Inside the cabin, there are some red highlights on the dash, across the AC vents and red stitching on the seat. A big feature upgrade comes in the form of a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman.
Now the main thing is the price. The Tiago JTP will be based on the top-end variant and there will be only one variant. So the price could be similar to the Tiago NRG at around Rs 6 Lakhs.
Its competitors will include Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS, Fiat Abarth Punto, and the Volkswagen Polo GT. However, Tata Tiago JTP will undercut the prices of its competitors, to be the cheapest hot-hatchback in India.
