The 2018 Hyundai Santro is going to launch in India on the 23rd of October this year. Hyundai, starting today, has opened the official bookings of this all-new compact hatchback till the 22nd of October. One can book the new Santro at a token amount of INR 11,000 at their nearest Hyundai dealership. First 50,000 customers of the car will benefit from the new Santro special introductory price.
Recently, the South Korean automaker released a couple of digitized images of the 2018 Hyundai Santro to the media. In addition to this, the company also shared the philosophy behind the new Santro. The new iteration of this compact hatchback has been designed keeping in mind the needs of an Indian family. Hence, Hyundai says that this hatchback will offer plenty of space inside the cabin.
Furthermore, the 2018 Hyundai Santro (Read More) will have a feature loaded cabin. The top-end variant is going to come with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In addition this, it will also offer a segment first rear-AC vents. The cabin’s colour scheme is dual-tone, of black and beige, which is going to add to its premium appeal.
In terms of its engine specifications, the new 2018 Hyundai Santro comes with Hyundai’s 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. This gasoline driven unit is capable of producing 67 BHP of power. Hyundai is going to offer a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard on all variants. However, the interesting thing to note here is that it is also going to come with a 5-speed AMT unit. This will be Hyundai’s first AMT gearbox in India.
Hyundai says that the 2018 iteration of the Santro (Unveiling Images) is going to promise a fuel-efficiency figure of 20.3 km/l. This figure holds true for both the manual as well as AMT transmission options. Not only this, but Hyundai will also offer the CNG variant of the Santro. The same is going to use a less powerful version of the same 1.1-litre engine. Its power output is going to stand at 58 BHP.
Some media reports suggest that the 2018 Hyundai Santro (Vs Renault KWID) is going to get a total of five variants at the time of launch. Out of these, only the mid-spec variants are going to get the AMT transmission. And similarly, the factory fitted CNG kit as well.
In terms of prices, we expect the new 2018 Hyundai Santro (Exterior/Interior Spy Images) to fall in-between the range of INR 3 lakhs to 5.5 lakhs. This will give the Santro a wide band of the compact hatchback segment to compete in. Hence, making it compete against the likes of Maruti Wagon R, Tata Tiago, Renault KWID, Datsun Go among the others.
